Venous Doppler Sonogram

Venous Doppler (DVT)

Most commonly, a Venous Doppler scan is performed to search for blood clots in the veins of the legs (or thrombus formation) and sometimes arms . These clots may break off and pass into the lungs, where they can cause a dangerous condition called pulmonary embolism. Typically, this exam is requested because of pain and swelling in the calf.
